Training C.A.M.P

Training C.A.M.P.s are our specialty. Our daily C.A.M.P. programs are a wonderful way to obtain professional assistance in training your dog, without the stress and loneliness of sending your dog off to boarding school.

Our signature C.A.M.P. programs provide you a practical approach to dog training - based on the concepts of positive rewards, clear communication, and sensible consequences - that is shaped to meet your particular needs. Since every dog and every family is different, we customize our instruction to resolve the issues. Jumping? Barking? Pulling on leash? All of the above? We focus on the areas that need the most attention in your life with your dog.

How It Works

Your dog stays with us during the day and goes home to you each evening, Monday through Friday. Each day, your dog enjoys several training sessions with an experienced C.A.M.P. Trainer, plus Lap Time, Nap Time, and (if appropriate) supervised Play Time with other dogs. Each evening, you'll receive a report card of your dog's progress, then you'll take over and work with your dog on simple homework assignments. Every week you will receive a private coaching session with an experienced trainer, so that you can participate in your dog's training progress each step of the way. Your pet will also go on several off-site field trips, plus receive a complimentary visit to the Shampooch on Graduation Day.

After Graduation...Then What?

The most important element necessary to maintain your pet's training is practice, practice, practice! So we've got some super options available to help you do that. Your Training C.A.M.P. graduate will be ready to try Beyond Basic Obedience 102 (our intermediate obedience class), drop off Refresher Days (a full day of play, love, and maintenance training), and drop off Adventure Hikes (a full day of play, love, and an outdoor excursion to one of the Seattle area's best hikes, during which we teach dogs to carry a backpack, walk nicely on leash, how to follow behind on narrow trails and how to work on a long line.)

We are only successful if you and your pet are successful together. Therefore, our Lifetime Coaching guarantee of support comes complimentary with every 3-week Training C.A.M.P. After graduating from Training C.A.M.P., if you experience any difficulties or questions about what we worked on in Training C.A.M.P. with your dog, you can come back in and have a private Lifetime Coaching lesson here at Riverdog with one of our experienced trainers - at no charge.

Several C.A.M.P.s To Choose From

Selecting the right type and length of C.A.M.P. is typically done after meeting with us for a complimentary Behavior Evaluation. The length of your dog's training with us will usually be between three and four weeks long. Basic 3-week Training C.A.M.P. includes Sit, Down, Shake, Wait, Off, Stay, Leave It, Come Here, walking on a loose leash, working around distractions, and much more. Our 4-week program is for dogs with behavior problems, such as food guarding, aggression towards other dogs or people, etc. We also offer a 1-2 week short course for dogs who already have training, yet need improvement or refreshing, a 1-week JumpStart C.A.M.P./Obedience class combination, and a 2-week course for off-leash radio collar control.

Special C.A.M.P. Just for Labradors, Goldens, and all Sporting Dogs!

Attention! All owners of Goldens, Labradors, Weimeraners, Vizslas, Springers, Poodles, Shorthairs, Clumbers, Irish And English Setters!...take note! Riverdog has teamed up with Master National trainer and professional Upland Guide Todd Manuel of Snoqualmie River Retrievers to provide day long field trips for sporting dogs. From young puppies who need field socialization or exposure to bird wings, birds, and gunfire...to seasoned dogs who just need some fine tuning...to energetic dogs who simply love (or need to learn) to chase and retrieve a bumper, Sporting Dog C.A.M.P. is a great option for your retriever, pointer, setter, or spaniel.

On Monday and Friday mornings, dogs in Sporting Dog C.A.M.P. arrive at the usual time. At 9:30 am, they are whisked away in Todd's custom field truck out to a variety of field locations in the Snoqualmie area. There, each dog will receive two or three off leash field training sessions with Todd, and an extended group play time with other healthy sporting dogs. Sessions include running all-out in the open field, practicing on- and off-leash Come Here commands, and exercising politely with other dogs in acreage. All will return to Riverdog by 3:00, tired and ready to go home by 6:30. Limited availability, reservations required.

You don't need to train your dog to hunt in order for your dog to enjoy the benefits of Sporting Dog C.A.M.P., but if you do hunt with your dog (or wish you could) Todd's expertise is unrivaled in this area. Do you wish to properly expose your young dog to gunfire? Does your experienced dog hunt well with other dogs? Does your dog bring a downed bird all the way back to you? After three months of hunting season, how much does your dog practice during the other nine months?

Sporting Dog C.A.M.P. can be purchased by the day, or you may elect to purchase an 8-day pass. The benefit of the pass is that it includes a private, in-the-field lesson with Todd.
